William C. Groskopf, age 70, of Elkville, passed away peacefully at 9:35am on Tuesday, October 08, 2024 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Community Living Center in Marion, Illinois.
William was born on August 7, 1954 to William and Caroline (Benzel) Groskopf in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Martie, who survives him in Elkville.
A man of adventure and service, Bill spent his career as a truck driver, traveling countless miles and touching many lives along the way. His service to his country was exemplary, having serve honorably in the United States Army and National Guard. During his time in the military, Bill served as a medic and a mechanic, utilizing his skills to help those in need.
Bill's love for Marjorie was unparalleled, and their marriage was a shining example of devotion and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
Survivors include his loving wife- Marjorie Groskopf of Elkville; three daughters- Malette Schieber of Nebraska, Sierra Groskopf of Carbondale, and LeAnn Rice of Du Quoin; step-daughter- Launa Mason of Christopher; grandchildren- Crickett Simmons, Davey Hoffman, and Dalia (Jordan) McDaniel; step-grandchildren- Tim, Danny, and Joe Eiserman; several great grandchildren; twin brothers- Donald (Marsha) Groskopf of Nebraska and Ronald (April) Groskopf of Nebraska; sister- Pam (Jim) Hendrickson of Omaha; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and step-grandson- Bryan Brown.
A time of visitation will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Dowell Baptist Church, located at 24452 US Highway 51 in Dowell, Illinois. A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will follow at 1:00pm on Saturday at the church with Rev. Gary Tate officiating. Immediately after the service, a meal will be served, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and share memories.
