William Dwyer Obituary

William "Bill" Dwayne Dwyer, age 70, of Herrin, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.  Surrounded by his family and enjoying his favorite songs, he transcended to a more perfect form. He lived a full life, wearing many hats, and being incredible at sporting them: husband, father, grandfather (to three brilliant grandsons), baseball player, sports' enthusiast, history buff, union president, and comedian. Most importantly, he was a very good man who gave as much love as he left. The family mourns his passing but is grateful that he is free from pain and discomfort. The family is forever indebted to his incredible medical staff who rendered compassionate care to the end.

He was born Sunday, June 5, 1955 in Herrin, a son of Lester Lee and Ruby Jewell (Padgett) Dwyer. His mother passed away when he was a small child and William was raised by Lester and his beloved step-mother, Lomelda Dwyer. Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Maytag for more than 30 years and served as the Union President.

He was a member of the Herrin United Methodist Church and the Herrin Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his daughter- Kelli (Jay) Rogers of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son- Michael (Kirsten) Dwyer of Alexandria, Virginia; daughter- Kiereney (Billy) Ausmus of Herrin; three grandsons- Calvin Rogers, Grayson Dwyer, and Logan Dwyer; siblings- Richard Dwyer, Jane Turner, Carlene Wilson, Pamela Sims, and George Branch; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
