Steven "Stevie" Carter Obituary Steven "Stevie" Edward Carter, age 63, of Herrin, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at his home in Herrin.

He was born Wednesday, April 12, 1961 in Orange County, California, a son of Robert Lee and Dorothy Marie (O'Connell) Carter.

Stevie's love for speed, his innovative spirit, and exceptional craftsmanship left an indelible mark on his family as well as the world of motor sports. He spent his life pursuing his passion for racing, building motors, motorcycles and hot rods. His dedication and expertise earned him recognition in the industry, including a notable feature in Motor Trend Magazine for one of his exceptional motor builds. Beyond his impressive technical skills, Stevie was a kind, generous, and humble individual who shared his knowledge and expertise with others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by three children- Stepheney Lynn Carter of Johnston City, Steven Carter of Johnston City, and Brooklen Marie Bowlin of Benton; grandchildren- Julia Jones, Madison Carter, Kirstyn Carter, Ethan Carter, Harley Carter, Kaleb Carter, Brantley Lowery, August Stevens, and Storm Carter; nieces and nephews- Jason Carter, Candice Carter, Cody Joe Carter, Mason Carter, Ricki Carter, Laci Carter, and Kristin Jennings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers- Philip Carter, Robby Carter, and Ricky Carter.
