Sharon (Royster) Alvis-Bennett Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Sue (Royster) Alvis-Bennett, age 79, of Alto Pass, formerly of Du Quoin. Sharon passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in her home in Alto Pass, where she resided with her nephew- Philip Kyle Royster, his wife- Alessa, and their children- Clarence and Roxie Royster. 

Sharon was born in Du Quoin on June 5, 1945, the daughter of Clarence Richard and Helen Marie (Bennett) Royster. She married Tommy Alvis, who preceded her in death. She later married Charles "Larry" Bennett and he also preceded her in death. 

Sharon is survived by her son- Joseph Curtis Myers and wife Cori of Cambria; grandchildren- Marie Myers of Valier and Mathew Myers of Valier; sister- Patricia Ann Royster of Du Quoin; sister- Elizabeth Jean Royster of Du Quoin; brother- Philip B. Royster and wife Cindy of Murphysboro; nephew and caregiver- Philip Kyle Royster and wife Alessa of Alto Pass and their children Clarence and Roxie; step children- Jennifer Diercks of Cutler, Michele Perlmutter of Missouri, Charles E. Bennett of Missouri, Tommy Alvis of Du Quoin, Danny (Brandi) Alvis of Tamaroa, Scott Alvis of Tamaroa, and T.J. (Lindsey) Alvis of Tamaroa; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands- Charles Larry Bennett and Tommy Alvis, stepdaughter- Cindy Alvis, brother- William Richard Royster, and sister- Donna Rae Royster-Pappas.
