Sharon Penrod Obituary Sharon M. Penrod, age 75, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at her home in Herrin, Illinois.

Sharon was born December 30, 1947 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of Robert and Catherine Leona (Schlink) Vaughn. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Penrod on May 13, 1977 in Energy, IL. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for various pharmacies.

She is survived by her spouse- Kenneth Penrod of Herrin, IL; four children- Lee (Doug) Jackson, Lonnie Dean (Robin) Beltz, Sharon Marie-Leona (Tom Allsopp) Burgess, and Destanie Faith-Marie (Zac) Taylor; three siblings, Susan (Bob) Kerley, Frank (Rose) Vaughn, and Michael Eric Vaughn; sister-in-law- Cathy Vaughn; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Leona (Schlink) and Robert Lavern Vaughn; one brother- William Robert Vaughn; six grandchildren; step-father- Ira Lee Smith, step-mother- Sue Vaughn, and best friend Patty Eckols.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, 1:00 PM at Herrin City Cemetery with Pastor Gilbert Craig officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
