Rusty Ansinelli Obituary With great sadness, we announce the passing of Rusty Ansinelli.

Charles Russell "Rusty" Ansinelli, age 77, of Herrin, passed away at 11:50 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.

He was born Wednesday, February 26, 1947 in Herrin, a son of Joe and Lois (Hopper) Ansinelli. He married the love of his life, Carol Sue "Susie" Hazel in Herrin on June 27, 1969. Together, they have shared more than fifty-five years of marriage and precious memories.

Rusty lived his whole life in Herrin. He graduated from Herrin High School in 1965 and went on to pursue design education at John A. Logan College. He began working at Dura Container’s Inc. in 1965, working his way up from printing press to printing press supervisor and ended his career there in 1985 in design. He then went on to own and run Red Top Liquor in Herrin with his brother, John Ansinelli, for 27 years until he retired at the age of 64. Rusty stayed fit his whole life by simply doing things he enjoyed, such as going to the gym and working in his yard. Another passion of his was classic cars. He enjoyed fixing a few of them up himself. Rusty also enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Fin and Feather Club in Freeman Spur. He looked forward to sharing these passions with his grandchildren and many friends every chance he got.

He is survived by his loving wife- Carol Sue "Susie" Ansinelli of Herrin; daughter- Bradi (Rob) Havens of Murphysboro; grandson- Hunter Havens of Murphysboro; granddaughter- Hayli (Nick Cheatham) Havens of DeSoto; great granddaughter- Murphy Cheatham of DeSoto; sister- Nancy (Bill) Woodhouse; sister-in-law- Vivian Ansinelli; brother-in-laws- James (Lori) Linton of Johnston City; Mark (Julie) Hazel of Tunnel Hill; Bob Wilkie of Herrin and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers- Joe Ansinelli and John Ansinelli; his father and mother-in-law Calvin and Betty Hazel of Herrin; sister-in-law Gail Wilkie of Herrin, and his niece- Toni Ladd.

In honor of Rusty's wishes, no public funeral services will be held at this time.
