Robert Cremeens, 82, of Carterville, formerly of McLeansboro, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 1,2026. He was born March 22, 1944 to Carl Leo and Kathryn Isabel (Abbott) Cremeens.
He married Lois Eileen Greathouse in 1965. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his daughter- Amy Rose Rebman, and three sisters and one brother- Dorothy Faye Butler, Nellie Mae Breeden, Stella Kay Isaacs, and Carl Eugene Cremeens.
He is survived by four daughters- Kathy Robinson (Charles) of Carterville, Leann Harney (Jonathan).of Indianapolis, Kristin Laitala (Dave) of Indianapolis, and Julie Keith (Chris) of Indianapolis; thirteen grandchildren- Elizabeth Robinson-McDonald (Ryan), Abigail Robinson, Katrina Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Lorelei Harney, Logan Harney, Joseph Laitala, Robert Laitala Kaitlyn Laitala, Jonathan Keith, Matthew Keith, Trevor Keith, and Luke Rebman; three great granddaughters whom he adored- Avalyn, Isabelle, and Nova McDonald; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews .
Robert was a 1963 graduate of Mcleansboro Township High School. He was a 1983 graduate of Southeastern Illinois Community College, and he held a Master's degree in Agribusiness from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He farmed for many years in Hamilton and Saline Counties, and worked as a tin press operator at General Radiator of Mt. Vernon for some years. He worked as an auto mechanic before and after earning his certificates at SIC. He worked as a farm manager after his graduation from SIUC. In later years he worked as a CNA at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home. In retirement, he loved vegetable and flower gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He worked hard and loved fiercely.
