Richard Allen Kurtz

Richard Allen Kurtz, age 62, of Tamaroa, passed away peacefully at 6:45am on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Nature Trail Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon.

Richard was born in DuQuoin on October 30, 1960, the son of Raymond Richard and Esther Elizabeth (Nickens) Kurtz.  He had worked as a mechanic and landscaper. Richard proudly served the village of Tamaroa as a trustee for more than fifteen years and also as a Tamaroa firefighter for more than twenty years,  even holding the rank of assistant chief for some of those years.

Survivors include his daughter- Rachel Kurtz of Tamaroa; his son and daughter-in-law- Randel and Jessica Kurtz of Tamaroa; grandchildren- Anna, Hank, Greyson, Frederick, Olivia, and Blair; sister- Denise and Kevin Lunnemann and their children Danielle, Desiree, and Katey; brother- Tommy Kurtz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

As per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of remembrance and celebration of Richard’s life.  The visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home; 11 South Hickory Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832.
