Phyllis Jean Gulley

Phyllis Gulley Obituary Phyllis Jean Gulley, age 78, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Herrin Hospital, after a long illness.

Phyllis was born the last of ten children on July 19, 1944 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of Robert and Amy (Laffoon) Jarvis.

Phyllis worked for seventeen years at Allen Industries and for five years at General Dynamics before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Zeigler.

She is survived by one daughter, Dana Gulley-Lantrip; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hess, Michael Hess, Dustin Gulley, Christopher Perruquet, and Amy Grant; six great grandchildren- Austin Hess, Journey Banks, Brennen Hess, Cayden Grant, Harper, and Paityn; and several close nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two children, Sheila Baseden and Steven Hess; her parents, Amy (Laffoon) and Robert Henry Jarvis; granddaughter- April Holts; one infant great granddaughter- Cheyenne, and nine siblings- Cecil Jarvis, George Andrew Jarvis, James Jarvis, Robert Jarvis, Pearl Younkin, Violet Mae Jarvis, Betty Jean Jarvis, Shirley Schaefer, and Patricia Jarvis.

Visitation will be from 11am-12pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
