Mary Wilson Obituary

Mary Wilson Obituary Mary Ann Wilson, formerly known as Mary Ann (Mize) Clay, age 53, of Carrier Mills, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at her home in Carrier Mills.

She was born Sunday, January 16, 1972 in Herrin, a daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Rector) Mize. She married Charles W. Wilson III in West Frankfort on November 28, 2024. He survives in Carrier Mills.

Mary was a free-spirited and adventurous soul. Her life was a testament to her fearless and unconventional nature. Mary spent her career working in construction for E.T. Simonds and serving as a past Postmaster of Colp. However, her true passions lay elsewhere. She was an avid artist. Her love for animals was evident in her volunteer work at a local animal sanctuary in her younger years. Horseback riding and exploring the great outdoors were among Mary's favorite pastimes. Her deep affinity for nature was rivaled only by her love for her Cherokee Indian heritage. She took great pride in her roots and cherished the traditions and stories of her ancestors. Mary's unique spirit was reflected in her love of tattoos. Her favorite animals, horses and wolves, held a special place in her heart. Her fearless and adventurous spirit will be missed.

She is survived by her husband- Charles W. Wilson III of Carrier Mills; daughter- Sierra Dawn Clay of Carrier Mills; daughter- Macy Elizabeth Clay of Carterville; step-son- Justin Loucks of Carrier Mills; one grandchild on the way; sister- Connie (Steve) Pochie of Hurst; sister- Linda (Steve) Cain of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister- Tresa (Kevin) Chandler of Royalton; brother- Ronnie (Deanna) Mize of Bloomsdale, MO; brother- Robert (Sue Ellen) Mize of Grantsburg; brother- Anthony Rector of Royalton; brother- James Jarvis of Royalton; brother- Sherman Jarvis of Hurst; sister-in-law- Alisha Clay of Marion; and several many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents and one brother- Kenneth "Rick" Mize, Jr.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date and will be announced here as details become available.
