Marieta L. Launius

Marieta Launius Obituary Marieta L. Launius, age 82, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at her residence at the Voyage Assisted Living in Marion, Illinois.

Marieta was born August 03, 1940 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and S. Louise (McElroy) Van Zandt.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin. She had retired from Herrin Hospital where she worked many years as an ICU nurse. After retirement, she loved babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by:

Son- Thomas J. (Bek) Swalls of Des Plaines, IL

Son- Matthew C. (Karna) Swalls of Carterville, IL

Five Grandchildren- Julie Reed (Chris Darby)

Lindsey Cloud (Johnny Schaper)

Sydney (Eli) Spiller

Austin (Drew) Swalls

Alexi Swalls (Cole Sizemore)

Five Great Grandchildren- Zakyra Hopkins

Eliza Spiller

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter- Robyn Cloud, and sister- Lenita Kinane.

A time of visitation will be Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 1:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Eli Spiller officiating.
