Lana Worthen Obituary

Lana Worthen Obituary Lana Kay (Baker) Worthen, age 78, of Herrin, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Fairview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

She was born Friday, September 13, 1946 in Herrin, a daughter of Thomas L. and Lilian L. (Oliver) Baker.

Lana, a vibrant and loving individual, left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. As a skilled hairdresser, she brought joy and beauty to her clients. Her passions extended beyond her work, as she delighted in playing Bingo and indulging in KFC biscuits. She was also a fan of the classic TV shows "The Golden Girls" and "I Love Lucy", often laughing and relating to the characters' wit and wisdom.

Lana's greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she loved showing off to anyone who would look. She was a proud Nana, beaming with pride as she shared pictures and stories of her beloved grandchildren. Now the family takes comfort in knowing she's watching over her great-grandchild, Ben, with the same love and devotion. Her personality was a unique blend of wit, stubbornness, and humor, always making those around her laugh. Lana's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted believer. Lana's legacy is one of love, laughter, and joy, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.

She is survived by her daughter- Becky (Shawn Mize) Leeper of West Frankfort; grandchildren- Dylan Worthen, Lacey (Michael) Gunter, Shelby Leeper, Zach Worthen, and Mason Mize; and two precious great grandchildren- Eric Gunter and Lane Worthen.

She is preceded in death by parents, son- John Thomas "J.T." Worthen, and beloved grandson- Ben Gunter.

As Lana requested, no public services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois, a cause close to her heart.
