Kimberly Ann Larson, age 78, of Herrin, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.
Kimberly was born Saturday, October 12, 1946 in Chicago, a daughter of Norman and Josephine (Tamberelli) Larson. She married the love of her life, David Ridgeway, in January of 2001, in Chicago.
Kim, a vibrant and caring soul, left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. With 20 years of dedication to Wal-Mart in Marion, she spent her retirement pursuing her passions for cooking, gardening, fitness, and spending time outdoors. At 76, she was still going strong, loving her pool, attending the gym, practicing yoga, and even kick-boxing.
Kimberly's love for animals and family was evident in everything she did. Her kindness, humor, and straight-forward nature made her a beloved friend and family member. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband- David Ridgeway of Herrin; niece- Penny Leslie of Kenosha, Wisconsin; great niece- Jacquilyn Jones of Lake Villa; great nephew- Michael Mason of North Lake; great great nephew- Michael Spencer of Lake Villa; great great niece- Loralei Spencer of Lake Villa; sister-in-law- Michele (fiance Robbi Knight) Ridgeway of Herrin; sister-in-law- Tammy (John) McClure of Freeman Spur; a host of extended family members she adored; and her beloved pets including her dog- Jessie and her cats- Dexie and Boy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother- Gerald Avanzi, and sister- Judith Leslie.
Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation to be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church gathering space, located at 316 West Monroe Street in Herrin.
The Rite of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 12:00PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Father Mark D. Reyling officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Animal Rescue, a fitting tribute to her compassion for animals. Her memory will continue to inspire us and live on in the hearts of many.
