Karen Watson Obituary Karen Lynn Watson, age 66, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.

Karen was born January 20, 1958 in Sumter, South Carolina, the daughter of G.W. and Gloria "Janie" (Phillips) Watson. When she was young, her family moved to Herrin, IL. She grew up in Herrin and graduated Herrin High School. She went on to John A. Logan Community College and received her associate degree in accounting. Most of Karen's working career was with the US Postal Service. Karen had a passion for horses, and volunteered at Specialized Equine Services. She was also very involved with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed camping with her parents and was extremely involved with genealogy. Karen was a wonderful daughter to her parents. As they aged, she cared for them.

She is survived by many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, G.W. and Gloria "Janie" Watson.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, 11:00 AM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
