Juanita Hamilton

Juanita Hamilton, age 88, of Herrin, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.

She was born Wednesday, June 16, 1937 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of Louis Hampton and Ruby Mae (Leehy) Crowell. She had married Ted Williams and from that union came her three sons. She later married Steve Hamilton. Steve preceded her in death in October of 1974.

Juanita leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and creativity. With a career spanning 55 years, Juanita took pride in her work as a beautician, bringing joy and beauty to countless clients. Before her long tenure in the beauty industry, Juanita worked at Allen Industries, and also as a waitress at the Eagles, where she made lasting connections and lifelong friendships. Her commitment to service extended to her membership in the VFW and American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, where she supported veterans and their families. In her quiet moments, Juanita found solace in reading, tending to her plants, enjoying time working in her yard, and expressing herself through painting. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, cherishing every moment with family and friends. Juanita's warmth, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created.

She is survived by her son- Bruce (Dianne) Williams of Herrin; son- Gregory Williams of Johnston City; son- Dale (Lisa) Williams of Herrin; three grandchildren- Dameon Williams, Ramsay (Matt) Millikin, and Jordan (Ashley) Williams; six great grandchildren- Taylor, Madison, Maddox, Darcie, Sadie, and Averi; three sisters- Janice Borders of Energy, Sue Copher of Herrin, Karen Spiller of Herrin; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members.

She is preceded in death by parents, husband- Steve Hamilton, sister- Joyce Watson, brother- Gene Hampton, brother- Ray Crowell, brother- Terry Crowell, and sister- Phyllis Nelson.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation to be held from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating.

Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
