Josephine Shahadey, age 103, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Parkway Manor in Marion, Illinois.
Josephine was born April 27, 1920 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of George and Hazel (Khory) Shahadey. Josephine lived in Herrin her entire life, living in the same house for 103 years. She graduated Herrin High School and worked at Olin, retiring as Head Secretary at Olin Corp. Josephine loved to read and she loved and cared for her family. She had a strong will to live and enjoyed life. She enjoyed spending time with her companion Frank Geraci and dining out with him.
She is survived by her cousins, Nancy Sue Ball of Phoenix, AZ, Loretta Pedott of Richmond, TX, Ellen Kay Miller of Highland Park, IL, Jodi K. (Randall) Steinmetz of Herrin, IL, Rose Moreiko and Bessie Thornsbrough. She is preceded in death by her parents; George and Hazel Shahadey and her companion, Frank Geraci, aunt Rose Khory Lewis, sister Rose Shahadey and cousins; John Khory Jr., Shirley Baugher, and Robert Lewis.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, 10:30 AM at Herrin City Cemetery with Father Mark Reyling officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
