Johnny Macklin Alvis, age 70, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:05pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri.
Johnny was born in Pana, Illinois on October 4, 1953, the son of George and Louise (Bush) Alvis. He married Sonja Havens in Murphysboro on August 7, 1979. Johnny had worked more than 31 years at Continental Tire. He served as Assistant Chief at the Elkville Fire Department for more than 24 years.
Survivors include his wife- Sonja Alvis of Du Quoin
Daughter- Tracy Power of St. James Island, Oregon
Daughter- Stephania Alvis of Pinckneyville
Three Grandchildren- Jordan and Zoey Anheuser of Du Quoin
Tristan Freckleton of Lynnwood, Washington
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with Johnny's wishes, the family gathered privately for a final farewell for their beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Johnny was laid to rest at Elkville Cemetery.
