Jesse L. Pena

Jesse L. Pena, age 76, of Du Quoin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at his home in Du Quoin.

Jesse was born in Mexico City on November 12, 1947. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for Hicks Oil. 

Jesse had a passion for life and always looked to bring light and happiness to any occasion. He would not want tears shed for him. But rather, he would want those he loved to remember the happy times and cherish the fun-filled memories. Remember his love for playing the lottery, and always keep those dreams of winning. Remember his love of watching Wheel of Fortune, and always keep that confidence of knowing the answers. But, mostly, remember the love he had for his family. Jesse was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life and legacy will forever be deeply interwoven in his family that he loved so deeply.

Survivors include his four children- Jason (Jennifer) Ehler of Zeigler, Andrea Ehler of Du Quoin, Jordan Ehler of Du Quoin, and Jetee Ehler of Du Quoin; special love and mother of his children- Jane Ehler of Du Quoin; twelve grandchildren- Brianna, Lauren, Anthony, Isabella, Deziree, Ryley, Jordan II, Brayden, Tajah, Amir, Camryn, and Kasten; and four great grandchildren- Mylah Gene, Paxton, Khy'mani, and Rymington.  Jesse was preceded in death by his parents. 

Loved ones gathered for a private farewell at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Saturday, May 11, 2024, for the family to say their final goodbyes to their most wonderful and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather prior to cremation rites. Celebration of life services are pending and will be announced here as service details become available. Family and friends are encouraged to remember Jesse in your own way, reflecting on the moments shared and the impact he had on your lives.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Jesse's funeral care fund at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home, to help the family with his unexpected final expenses.
