James Kish Obituary James Sampson Kish, age 84, of Pinckneyville, passed away peacefully at 5:17 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Axiom Gardens Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

He was born Tuesday, September 10, 1940 in Piper, Alabama, a son of Mary Lucille (Lee) and Frank Kish, Jr. He graduated from Herrin High School in 1958. Jim married the love of his life, Iris Jean Forbes in Paducah, Kentucky on February 16, 1996. Together, they have shared more than twenty-eight years of marriage and precious memories. He had previously been married to Joy Bardle.

Jim had been employed as a service technician by General Telephone/Verizon in Pinckneyville. He was a proud United States Army Veteran, having served from 1960-1963. He was a member of the AOPA and held a private pilot license. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife- Iris Jean Kish of Pinckneyville along with the following cherished family members: children- Curtis James (Tammy) Kish of Du Quoin, Valerie Dawn (David) Baker of St. Mary, Missouri, David Allen Forbes of Pinckneyville, Jill Ann Forbes-Chandler of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren- Andrea (Jeff) Shively of Carbondale, Taylor (Trenton) Sheraden of Pinckneyville, Miranda (Zayne Fornear) Kish of Sesser, Madison (Luke) Jones of Pinckneyville, and Emilee (Jordan) Koester of Steedman, Missouri; six great grandchildren- Finn Shively, Hayden Sheraden, Connor Sheraden, Ellie Sheraden, Daisy Jones, Navy Jones, and baby Maverick Jones (due October 4th); siblings- Frank (Lisa) Kish, Jr. of Palmer, Alaska and John (Candy) Kish of San Diego, California.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Frank (Marie) Kish and Mary (George) Robinson, brother- Robert Robinson, grandson- Jacob Baker, and son-in-law- Aaron Chandler.

In accordance with James' wishes, no public services will be held at this time. Celebration of life services will be held at a later date and will be announced here as details become available. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be directed to the family or a humane society of the donor's choice.
