Grace Ayers Obituary Grace Berniece Ayers, age 94, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at her home in Herrin, Illinois.

Grace was born April 23, 1929 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of Wilford and Winnie Jane (Bennett) Cox. She married the love of her life, George W. "Bill" Ayers on April 20, 1963 in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters- Vonita Ann Elders and Rita Lynn Duncan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and nine siblings- Claude Cox, Edward Cox, Willie Cox, Dalton Cox, Edith Johnson, Lucille Mathis, Helen Fitch, Gladys Musgrave, and Vernon Cox.

Visitation will be Friday, June 9th, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, 1:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.
