Genevieve Rose (Ferkel) Cook

Genevieve Rose Cook (nee Ferkel), age 69, of Herrin, born on December 14, 1956, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed on Saturday, January 24th, 2026.

Genny was a loving mother; she worked in agriculture and was a shift manager for McDonalds through her working career.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Charlene (nee Thompson) Ferkel, Sr. and her siblings Charles Ferkel, and Tina Hunter (nee Ferkel).

Genevieve is survived by her children, Cynthia (Cary) Lilly, Michael (Tangy) Nochta, Dennis (Penny) Cook, Jr., and Jeffrey (Erin) Cook; her grandchildren, Christopher Cheatham, Zachary Cheatham, Ariel Staley, Hailey Nochta, Cheyenne Barteau, Kassie Wyman, Hannah Cook, Shellbe Cook, Jeffrey "J.C." Cook, Dennis Cook III, Brayden Nochta, and Jesse Cook; 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, Theodore(Sonya) Ferkel Jr., Edward (Lori) Ferkel and James (Teddy) Ferkel; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
