Donald Eugene McClelland, age 78, of Centralia, passed away at 8:35pm on Monday, October 14, 2024 at his home in Centralia, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born October 8, 1946 in Centralia, Illinois, a son of Paul Ervin and Wanda Lucille (Atchison) McClelland. He shared his life with his "honey" of more than twenty-six years, Ruth Ann (Glammeyer) Graham.
Donald's passion for golf was unparalleled, spending countless hours on the greens of the Colonial Golf Course with his cherished golf pals. His love for sports did extend past golf, with a special affinity for the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to his love of golf and sports, he enjoyed casual mornings having coffee with his buddies. However, his greatest joy was being an exceptional "Papa" to his grandchildren. He never missed a game, practice, or opportunity to support and nurture them. They were his pride and joy. His warm presence and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A proud United States Air Force veteran, Don served his country with distinction and dedication. His community involvement was significant, serving as a board member for the Sons of the American Legion. His skills as a carpenter and handyman were a true reflection of who he was; doing for others and taking great pride in his creative projects.
Above all, Don was a devoted husband. His greatest priority was his loving wife, whom he cherished and honored every day. His unwavering devotion, respect, and adoration for her is a rare love that withstands the test of time. She was his queen. Their love was a true partnership, one that inspired all who knew them.
