Donald Rush Lewis

Donald Rush Lewis, age 72, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:30pm on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  

Donald was born in Carbondale on December 23, 1950, the son of Anna (Sheppard) Lewis and Louis Topping. He married Dixie Hartsock in Du Quoin on January 31, 1970. Together, they have shared more than fifty-three years of marriage and wonderful memories. 

Donald was an amazing father and husband and loved teaching others, especially about the Bible.  He loved nature and Jehovah God and encouraged people to search for accurate Bible knowledge. He was known for his well-told jokes and stories.

He worked as superintendent of a construction company, was a master electrician, carpenter, built homes and taught electrical classes.  Donald could do anything he put his mind to. He was a very creative person who loved camping, playing music, painting, and being with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife- Dixie (Hartsock) Lewis of Du Quoin; Children- Barbara (Allen) Stephens of Pleasant View, IL, Kyle (Kayrstan) Lewis of Cedar Rapids, IA, Joshua (Brianna) Lewis of Cedar Rapids, IA, Beverly (Joe) Prehall of Excelsior, MN, and Benjamin Lewis of Du Quoin; grandchildren- Samantha Shelley, Heather Adwell, Michael & Erica Lacy; Gavin & Nova Lewis; Oz, Quinn, Cosette & Lucy Prehall; and his great grandchildren- Leydon, Carson, Jesse, Ayla, Arlenna, Grant, and Aliza.
