Denise Launay, age 70, of Chicago, IL passed away at 1:34 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon. She was born on Christmas Day in 1954 in Seattle, Washington to the late Raymond and Mary Launay.
Denise is survived by her four siblings and their families; sister- Michelle and husband Scott Nelson of Bremerton, WA; brother- Paul and wife Debi Launay of Mount Vernon, IL; brother- Berne Launay of Bremerton, WA; and brother- David and wife Peng Launay of Las Vegas, NV.
Denise attended Webber Township High School in Bluford, IL before moving to Washington State in 1972. Following graduation from Central Valley High School, Spokane, WA, she worked with AT&T in Spokane, and then in San Francisco and Arizona. After moving to Chicago, she worked at secretarial work for a time. Denise is best remembered for her big heart and empathetic spirit. She freely gave time to care for friends in need. She devoted many years to volunteering and serving on the board for the Henry George School in Chicago. As a lover of animals, she spent countless hours and funds working together with other local volunteers and pet agencies to feed and rescue feral cats in her Chicago community.
She is lovingly remembered by family and friends, and her kind, persistent, and generous spirit will forever be an inspiration.
