Delmar Emery Obituary Delmar Laverne Emery, age 81, of Carterville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.
Delmar was born December 12, 1942 in Carterville, Illinois, a son of Delmar and Carmen (Clark) Emery. Delmar graduated Carterville High School and worked 30 years at Allen Industries. He married Lela B. Dixon on September 23, 1979 in Herrin, IL. After the plant closed he worked 8 years at Lowes in Carbondale. Delmar enjoyed listening to gospel music, fishing and spending time with family.
He is survived by three children, Adele E.(Tommy Tellor) Emery of Oldsmar, FL, John D. (Trish) Emery of Herrin, IL, and stepson Jim (Denise) Haley Jr. of Colp, IL; two grandchildren, John (Ashley) Emery Jr and James (Samantha) Emery; two great-grandchildren, Meredith Jenae Emery and Dani Jo Emery; one sister, Janice E. (James Slack) Gabbard of Adams, TN; and his step grandchildren, Jason Haley, Josh Haley, Jarrett Haley; six step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife Lela B. Emery; one son, Joseph Emery; his parents, C. Delmar and Carmen Emery; and one brother, David Emery.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, 10:00 AM at Blairsville Cemetery with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL. is assisting the family with final arrangements.
