Dejah Herrmany Obituary

Dejah T. Herrmany, age 99, of Pinckneyville, went to her heavenly home at 2:50am on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dejah was born in Cutler, Illinois on June 6, 1923, the daughter of William and Leta Gladys (Derricks) Lipe. She married Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Herrmany in Carlyle on May 31, 1954. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1986.

At 99 years of age, she witnessed incredible changes to her world. Dejah was a former member of Denmark Baptist Church. Having numerous jobs in her lifetime, she so enjoyed her last job of being a cook. When she was in better health, she would cook Sunday dinner for family and friends, as she deeply enjoyed their company.   She lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children, strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Woodrow Herrmany, son- Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Herrmany, infant son-Tracy Allen Herrmany, daughter- Sandra Barton, infant granddaughter- Melissa Lee Smith, brothers- Edward, Wivalle, and Everette Lipe, infant brother- Deneed Lipe, sisters- Lucille Taylor, Verna Lee Dunihoo, Vernice Chapman, and Gwendolyn Lipe.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the New Hope Community Church (5290 Snowy Owl Rd, Pinckneyville, IL 62274). Pastor James Clardy and Pastor Rob Mathis will officiate. Burial will follow at Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of services at noon on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the New Hope Community Church.
