Dee Barnes Obituary Dee Ann Barnes, age 60, of Herrin, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at her home.
She was born Saturday, November 7, 1964 in Kentucky, a daughter of Clyde LaVerne "Bozo" and Velma Deloris (Castleman) Edwards.
Dee lived life on her own terms, with a heart full of love and generosity. She'd give anyone the shirt off her back, and her home was always open to those in need. Family was at the center of her world. She cherished moments with her loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Dee enjoyed simple pleasures - relaxing in her beloved hot tub, casting a line while fishing, and sharing laughter with those around her. Above all, she adored her children and grandchildren, showering them with unconditional love and support. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and the memories she leaves behind. Her love, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son- Derrick Edwards of Herrin, daughter- Danielle Skelcher and Zachery Roach of Herrin; and two grandchildren- Khai and Kayel Edwards of Marion.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers- Kent Allen "Cricket" Edwards and Norman Ray Edwards.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Celebration of life services and more time of fellowship will follow immediately after at the Herrin VFW. We invite you to join the family as they share stories, memories, and pay tribute to Dee's life, legacy, and impact.
Dee will be laid to rest at Herrin City Cemetery at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
