Claire "Tad" Cooper, age 68, passed away on February 14, 2024.
Tad worked as an educator, after working as a coal miner. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing music, jet-skiing, boating, and simply spending time on the water.
Tad is survived by his wife- Susan Cooper; children- Emily Lepley and husband Rick, and Christopher Cooper; two grandchildren- Colton and Londyn; siblings- Lucy Kozak and husband Stephen, Joe Cooper and wife Jo, and Duff Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
Tad was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law- Mac and Barbara Cooper.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at McElvain Cemetery in Du Quoin. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. A celebration of life will continue at Route 51 Brewery following the committal at the cemetery.
Tad loved teaching and making a difference in the lives of many students. It is only fitting that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Brian Lasater Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Hamilton County Senior High School (PO Box 369; McLeansboro, IL 62859). This is a fund that was dear to Tad, as Brian was his nephew and this was also a school Tad taught at.
Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin is honored to have been called to serve the family.
