Claire Marie Day, age 66, of Nashville, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her home in Nashville, Illinois.
She was born Saturday, July 12, 1958 in Cairo, Illinois, a daughter of Margaret (Johansen) and Joseph Roth Day.
In earlier years, Claire had worked for Universal (UNI/MCA). She later worked at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville where she found a second family among her colleagues. She loved her job and cherished the bonds she formed with her coworkers, who became like a work family to her. They, along with the residents and staff, meant the world to her.
Claire was a beloved and radiant individual. She was the epitome of warmth and joy, spreading love and positivity wherever she went. Everyone who knew Claire adored her bright smile, infectious enthusiasm, and remarkable intelligence. Claire's love for family was evident in the way she cared for her nieces and nephews, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Her presence was always met with excitement, and family gatherings were made brighter by her presence. Claire enjoyed simple pleasures like bowling, but also cherished more adventurous experiences, such as her memorable trip to New York. Family vacations and gatherings were always a highlight for her, filled with laughter, love, and lively conversations. Her passion for trivia was unmatched, and her extensive knowledge of useless facts often left others in awe. Family and friends would frequently seek her expertise, keeping her on speed dial during trivia nights.
Claire is survived by her brother- Mark (Suzan) Day of Du Quoin, brother- Jim (Janice) Day of Coulterville, brother- Tony (Amy) Day of High Ridge, Missouri, sister- Barb (Jake) Essen of Tamaroa, brother- Carl (Penny) Day of Indianapolis, Indiana, brother- Joe (Stephanie) Day of Du Quoin; beloved nieces and nephews including- Justin Day, Jordan Day, Jason Day, Jared Day, Cassandra Shelton, Caleb Day, Emily Day, Olivia Day, Lindsay Cavitt, Ryan Flack, Tyler Day, Maddie Day, Sydnie Twillmann, Sadie Day, and Rylie Day; several great nieces and great nephews; and her best friend- Jeanette Roth.
Claire is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew- Nicholas Cavitt.
Celebration of life services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home, located at 11 S. Hickory Street in Du Quoin, Illinois. The family will privately lay Claire's ashes to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Memorial donations may be made to Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville, where they can be used to enhance activities for residents or celebrate Claire's life and legacy. These contributions will help keep her spirit alive among the community she loved.
