Christina Kay Gieselmann, age 55, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:56 am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton, Missouri.
She was born Friday, March 13, 1970 in Murphysboro, a daughter of Sharon Lee Terry and the late George Elvin Thomas. She married the love of her life, Jeffrey Lance Gieselmann on June 07, 2003 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee at the Chapel of Love. Together, they have shared more than twenty-two years of marriage and precious memories.
She had retired from Menard Correctional Center, where she served as a correctional officer.
Christina leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. She was a beautiful soul who touched countless lives with her generous spirit and compassionate heart. Christina's passions were many - she loved music, traveling, and above all, spending time with family and friends. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived it out through her tireless support of charity and community endeavors. She was a true giver, always supporting charity and giving back to her community. As an Army veteran, Christina served her country with honor and pride, and continued to serve others through her volunteer work and kindness. Her giving nature, loving heart, and infectious energy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband- Jeffrey Lance Gieselmann of Du Quoin; mother- Sharon Lee Terry of Du Quoin; brother- Terry Young; brother- George (Kim) Thomas of California; sister- Donna Young of Missouri; twin sister- Tammy (Don) Lingle of Elkville; sister- Tracy (Tim) McKinny of Florida; sister- Katrina (Steve) Harper of Louisianna; step-children- Lance (Ashlee) Gieselmann of Hartford, Alabama, Courtney (Jeremy) Martin of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Kyle (Chelsea) Gieselmann of Newton, Alabama; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews including her nephew- Keith James Norris of Du Quoin, whom she always claimed as "half hers" due to the special bond she had with her twin sister, Tammy.
She is preceded in death by her father-George Elvin Thomas and her brother- Danny Young.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Coulterville Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.
