Carl David Acklin, age 39, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Thursday, May 29, 1986 in Carbondale, a son of Pennie (Cummings) Forney and Christopher Acklin. He married the love of his life, Heather Dawn Eddleman, in Metropolis, on June 02, 2012. Together, they have shared more than thirteen years of marriage and precious memories.
David, a shining light in the lives of those around him, left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Overcoming the challenges of a tough childhood, David emerged as a strong, loving, and devoted family man. He found joy in the simple things: gaming with his loved ones, exploring the world of Fortnite on his PS5, and sharing laughs over horror movies and medical dramas.
A collector at heart, David and his niece bonded over Anime, and he and his wife treasured their Funko Pop! collection. He was a wealth of knowledge, always eager to share useless information and insights with those around him, even when they didn't ask.
A selfless caregiver, David prioritized his family's needs above his own, creating a warm and loving home. His passions for Anime, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, gaming, and all things nerd brought him immense happiness, and he loved introducing others to his favorite hobbies.
David's love, kindness, uniqueness and generosity will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He is survived by his wife- Heather Dawn (Eddleman) Acklin of Marion; mother- Pennie (Rodney) Forney of Paducah; father- Christopher (Debbie) Acklin of Michigan; several siblings including his sister- Amber (Zane) Blake of Karnak and brother- Joshua Acklin of Montana; mother-in-law- Renee Eddleman of Marion; father-in-law- Tom (Kelly) Eddleman of Perks; sister-in-law- Tiffany (Vanessa) Jacquot of Marion; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members including a special niece- Danilynn Jacquot; and his beloved furbabies- Akki and Kaya Janel.
He is preceded in death by a special friend- DJ.
