Carl Raymond Stafko, age 81, of Royalton, passed away peacefully at home at 3:00am on Sunday, August 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born in Royalton on April 8, 1943, the son of George and Evelyn (Childers) Stafko. He married Raylene Jerrells on August 20, 1966, at the Royalton Methodist Church. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a coal miner and was a member of the UMWA.
Survivors include his wife- Raylene Stafko of Royalton; daughter and son-in-law- Jill and Steve McKinney of Mulkeytown; son- Jon Stafko of Royalton; grandchildren- Nicholas McKinney of Royalton, Cole McKinney of Royalton, Kassey (Kodie) Ferketich of Carterville, and Drake McKinney of Mulkeytown; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law- Danny Jerrells of Royalton; brother-in-law- Jerry Zilske of St. Louis; sister-in-law- Dianna (Frank) Stubits; sister-in-law- Valeria Stafko of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Michael Stafko, and two sisters-in-law- Carolyn Jerrells and Sharon Zilske.
As the family requested, no services will be held at this time. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Donations may be mailed directly to Hospice of Southern Illinois; 204 Halfway Road; Marion, IL 62959.
