BORN SUNSET
Byon L. Laster was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 14, 1975, to Carolyn Renee Laster and Walter Wright and at 49 years old he was called home on August 22, 2024 at 10:30 in the morning. He was preceded in death by his mother & father, Carolyn Renee Laster & Walter Wright, Irma Jean Laster (grandmother), Holmer Laster (grandfather), and his (brother) Milton Sykes. Byron left behind his six children Chiquita Laster, Tiffany Zollicoffer, Byron Hill, Monique Smith, Martavius Laster, & Lasharrah Knox. He has twenty-three beautiful grandchildren, one brother- Timothy N. Sykes, and two sisters- Shiquita Eggleston & Michelle Lockhart. Also surviving are a host family, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Byron was known to the world by his nick name Smoke Divine as he would always say Smoke Divine all the time. Byron lived in the Calumet Buildings Rowe Homes in Chicago as a child before he moved and lived his adult years in Hopkins Park, Illinois better known as H.P.
One of the things he enjoyed to do on his free time was to sing. R.Kelly was his favorite music artist. He was family orientated and loved all his children. Driving Chevy make & model cars was his thing to do. He took pride in the way he dressed as his appearance was everything to him. He will be truly missed. The family will cherish all the memories he left them forever.
"Rest peacefully, Daddy, you no longer have to fight cancer any longer. You put up a great fight. We love you. See you when I get there...
