Asher Oliver Martin

Asher Oliver Martin, infant son of Jeremy and Jessica Martin, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at home in Herrin.

Asher was born prematurely on Sunday, September 14, 2025 in St. Louis City, Missouri, a son of Jeremy Andrew and Jessica Marie (Spicka) Martin. Though his time on this earth was brief, his impact will be felt forever. This small but mighty warrior captured the hearts of everyone around him. In just one short month, he showed his strength and resilience. His tiny hands and feet may have been small, but Asher's presence was enormous.

Asher fought hard from the start, and his NICU nurses adored him for his feisty spirit and determination. Though he only got to come home for a short week, Asher left an indelible mark on those who loved him. With his unique personality shining through, his tiny attempts to roll over and crawl were just the beginning of the adventures his mommy and daddy knew he would have.

Asher may not have had much time on this earth, but his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Rest easy, little one. Your journey may have been short, but your impact will be forever.

He is survived by his loving mommy and daddy- Jessica Marie (Spicka) and Jeremy Andrew Martin of Herrin; big sister- Athena Mae Martin of Herrin; grandparents- Brian and Judy Martin of Herrin; great grandfather- Gerald Holmes of Carbondale; uncle- Zach (Jade) Collins of Wichita, Kansas; aunt- Taylor (John) Baize of Herrin; aunt- Ashten (Daniel Lucas) Burley of Herrin; uncle- Michael Burley of Herrin; uncle- Matthew Mourlas of Chicago; cousins- Dani Burley, Logan Collins, Madalyn Fortner, Jensyn Burley, and Kyle Lucas; and a host of extended family members who adored him.

Asher is preceded in death by his grandfather- John Spicka, great grandmother- Beverly Holmes, great grandmother- Loretta Payne, great grandparents- Barbara and James Edward Martin, great grandfather- Joe Novak, and great uncle- John Payne.

Family and friends are encouraged to show their support during a time of visitation from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial services will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Asher's great grandfather, Rev. Gerald Holmes, officiating services.
